Description
About the role The Process Improvement Manager is responsible for optimizing manufacturing workflows to ensure products are made correctly the first time. This role serves as the technical lead within the Production department, focused on defect prevention and operational efficiency. You will analyze production data, collaborate with the QC team to understand failure points, and implement technical process changes to eliminate waste and reduce rejections at the final quality stage. Key Responsibilities Process Optimization & Defect Prevention: Analyze current production methods to identify the root causes of quality issues and bottlenecks. Shift the focus from "detecting errors" to "preventing errors" by upgrading production techniques, tooling, or assembly methods. Lead continuous improvement initiatives (CI) to reduce scrap rates and rework. Bridge Between Production & Quality: Collaborate closely with the QC department to interpret daily rejection reports and translate them into immediate process fixes on the floor. Ensure that the "Standards" defined by the Technical and QC teams are realistic and achievable by the production machinery and staff. Develop clear, technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that build quality directly into the workflow. Technical Implementation: Assess machine capability and calibration to ensuring equipment can meet the required specifications. Recommend and oversee layout changes or equipment upgrades to improve product flow and reduce handling damage. Training & Capability Building: Coach supervisors and operators on new methods and best practices. Foster a culture of problem-solving where operators understand how to prevent specific defects during assembly. Job Requirements Bachelors degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical) or a related technical field. Strong understanding of furniture manufacturing processes (how products are produced) vs. just inspecting finished goods, with a specific focus on process engineering, continuous improvement, or production quality. Demonstrated experience in bridging the gap between technical requirements and operational execution.
