Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the Process Improvement Specialist will will be responsible for supporting production activities that includes teaching new associates productivity, quality, and execution of production processes. Implementing improvement initiatives assigned to production processes and other initiatives as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor. Current openings for day shift.

JOB REQUIREMENTS - CORE COMPETENCIES

You must be an organized self-starter with above average problem-solving ability. Also, you must be able to work alone and unsupervised while under pressure from Production customers. Most importantly, you must be able to work as part of a multi-cultural, multi-disciplined team while achieving your highest potential performance.
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements: 2-4 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Proficient with PCs and MS Windows software (Word, Excel, Power Point). Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal. Will be required to perform other duties as required, directed or assigned. High School Diploma or GED
Desired: Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, and mechanical drawings. Knowledge of practical or documented understanding of department specific tools and equipment Lean Manufacturing Principles (Yellow Belt) Continuous Improvement Principles

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
  • Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
  • Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.
  • Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.
  • Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: Time entry (and Utilization) for all shop employees Setup training courses with the coordination of HSE, Quality and HR Update and compose training documents or operating procedures for department specific processes as well as maintain training records Update and maintain time sheets and toolbox sign in sheets Scan and send documentation to the appropriate departments such as FLHAs, toolbox meetings and Crane Inspections Manage expense items (iProcurement/Requisitions) such as labels, stickers, lugs, gaskets, and other purchased parts Update and maintain employee tools and toolboxes records Support the shop employees with programs, processes, and maintenance Maintain calibration records for tools such as torque wrenches Monitor any applicable maintenance with outside suppliers Support and work in production areas when needed on the floor Administrative programming Support all other department specific production processes Data entry such as In-process inspections, discrepancy lists and HFDs (non-conformance)
