Collins Aerospace is looking for a Process Operator Technician I to join our team in Fairfield, CA. You will perform a variety of production tasks which are dependent on customer demand. This position is a highly technical position, which requires working with hazardous chemicals, energetic powder (explosives), and loading the energetic powder into smaller sub-assembly components.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for the setup, calibration, operation, and selection of appropriate machines used in production/fabrication processes of explosive parts, inspecting machining operations and finished products against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools. Uses computer-controlled and manual machining equipment to select, position and secure automatic or semi-automatic specialized machines, controlling and adjusting machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications. Prepares materials for machining and processing.
  • Performs a variety of explosives storage, transport, handling, processing, and operational tasks in quantities up to 250 pounds. Weighs, loads, and inspects the column height of explosives and pyrotechnic powders. Performs tests and inspections of explosives according to Collins Aerospace quality standards.
  • Performs a variety of work to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machines, mechanical equipment, and components. Operation of crane/hoists, powered industrial vehicles, and materials handling equipment as needed.
  • References and interprets diagrams, blueprints, work orders, specifications, and engineering plans and drawings for fabrication, operation, material, and dimensional requirements. Provides support and recommendations for the R&D and implementation of facility, equipment, processes, and methods for both new and upgraded programs. Makes recommendations to improve explosive handling processes. Makes recommendations for reworks and/or repairs of assembled equipment and products for engineering specification changes. Creates formula and makes calculations to assist Engineering with data analysis and process changes.
  • Receives, stores, issues, returns and transfers a variety of items, including explosive and pyrotechnic materials, while maintaining accurate inventory control records. Inventories and maintains government tooling property according to military regulations.
  • Performs a variety of production/manufacturing operation activities including setting up and assembling parts, while maintaining quality and safety standards. Operates hand tools, electrical tools, hand cutters, and light equipment. Participates in cost reduction plans and continuous improvement plans/events. Maintains materials, equipment, and work area in clean and orderly condition. Maintains regulations including, but not limited to: Environmental Health and Safety, Ethics, International Trade Compliance, and Human Resources.
