Process Safety Manager - Chemical Processing/Manufacturing - EHS/HSE

The Process Safety Manager will be a key part of our management team, based in our Mobile, AL industrial location, and will work closely with the plant management and the EHS Department to assure proper information is developed, reviewed and made available to meet company, local and federal regulations, but leading and directing the effort to set up and report key metrics relating to the field of Process Safety to team, site, division and corporate leaders.
This role involves conducting risk assessments, facilitating safety reviews, and implementing best practices to mitigate hazards in manufacturing environments and the ideal candidate will be a great communicator, presenter and ideally will come from the Chemical /Chemical Engineering , or similar manufacturing industry world.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in process safety management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and EPA standards.
  • Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and risk management methodologies.
  • Proven track record in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Certification in process safety management or related fields is preferred.
  • MUST have STRONG EHS/HSE/Safety roots, with a strong leadership ability, and ideally a desire/skillset to be a role model and be recognized as a leader, subject matter specialist.
  • Trained PHA Facilitator / Leader preferred
  • Proven ability to lead teams, influence operations, and build consensus across all functions
  • Experience with using and leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) studies by various techniques

  • Strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required
  • Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify potential risks and associated mitigations
  • Able to bring new ideas and an innovative approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrated skills in risk-based decision making, effectively coordinating safety and business needs.

  • Lead the development and implementation of process safety management systems.
  • Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and EPA 40 CFR part 68 regulations.
  • Develop key metrics to monitor process safety performance.
  • Conduct audits and incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Facilitate safety reviews and training for plant operations personnel.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to manage changes in processes and systems.
  • Support the organization in risk management initiatives and safety culture improvements.
