We have an opening for a Process Technician to join our team. The Process Technician at Freshpack supports continuous improvement and drive operational efficiency by assisting with process optimization and equipment troubleshooting. This role is essential to ensure equipment runs at peak performance and production processes run efficiently. Freshpack is a custom cheese packaging company that develops and innovates cheese products and packaging. Our products can be found in all 50 states and in most major retailers. Over the past 25 years, our team has grown from 15 to 280+ employees. It is an exciting time to join our team, as we are poised for substantial growth over the next 3-5 years. Duties/Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Support engineering-led process improvements focused on increasing uptime and reducing waste. Conduct routine machine inspections and performance checks to identify early signs of inefficiency. Assist with the setup, calibration, and monitoring of production equipment. Collaborate with maintenance to identify and resolve recurring equipment issues. Act as a technical mentor to Machine Operators. Maintain and improve documentation related to equipment operation and changeover processes. Equipment Performance and Reliability Monitor machines during production. Identify and troubleshoot root cause of machine deficiencies with Maintenance. Focus on predictive and preventive actions rather than corrective maintenance. Continuous Improvement Identify line bottlenecks through effective use of time studies. Identify and carry out continuous improvement projects and activities to increase product yield and line efficiency (OEE). Aid Engineering Manager in validating new equipment for product launches or new production lines. Production Support Streamline setup and changeover of equipment to reduce downtime. Develop standardized procedures for machines in dedicated production area. Act as technical expert in teaching Machine Operators proper procedures for assembly, operation, and proper maintaining of equipment. Personnel Safety Responsible for safe operation of equipment in production room. Recommend equipment modifications that improve employee safety. Personnel safety audits of production room. Product Development Assist with new product samples. Requirements Qualifications Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand basic equipment functions. Ability to collect, review, and act on production performance data. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Willingness to participate in continuous improvement projects and hands-on trials. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently. Basic Microsoft Suite skills. Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbs. Key Performance Indicators Weekly KPI based on Throughput Numbers in assigned Production Room up to an extra $2.00/hr. Uncapped Weekly KPI based on Pounds saved in yield through trim, overpack, and floor loss. Pay for Performance opportunities in $0.25/hour level increments up to $1.00/hour based on proven success in role.
