JOB DESCRIPTION

Grace is hiring a Process Technology Engineer to join our Specialty Catalyst Process Technology located at our Baton Rouge, LA manufacturing site. You will report to the Process Technology Manager and responsible for providing scale-up and technical support for product development and commercialization. In addition, you will provide support for the optimization and cost-savings efforts and will leverage your technical expertise to solve complex problems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 0-4 years chemical and/or petro-chemcial experience, prior co-op or internship experience highly preferred.
  • Strong time management skills and detail-oriented.
  • Strong initiative skills, self-motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Strong team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to effectively engage with all levels in the organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sig Sigma Certification or Basic statistical skills.
  • Experience with Minitab or other statistical software.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial atmosphere and adopt a strong safety culture.
  • Develop and implement projects to increase plant productivity, decrease production costs, and improve overall EHS performance.
  • Work closely with process chemists to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide support for production campaigns by conducting appropriate Process Hazards Analysis, compilation of technical documentation, and direct unit support.
  • Own commercialization process by completing technology transfers to drive products to routine operation.
  • Assist in troubleshooting requests from manufacturing team in support of commercial products.
  • Lead start-up and commissioning efforts.
