Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a hands-on, self-driven Processing and Packaging Project Engineer to take full ownership of engineering responsibilities within our food manufacturing facility. This role combines plant-level support and project execution, ideal for someone who thrives in a production environment and wants to make a direct, measurable impact on operations.
You will focus on optimizing plant layout, reducing labor costs, improving processes and safety. You will lead capital improvement budget and execution. While you will not directly manage the maintenance department, you will provide technical support to the Maintenance Manager and team when needed, helping solve complex equipment and process challenges.
This is an individual contributor position — perfect for someone who enjoys autonomy, practical problem-solving, and working closely with production and cross-functional teams to drive improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead plant layout reviews and redesigns to improve efficiency, material flow, and labor utilization.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to identify bottlenecks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Plan and execute capital improvement projects, including equipment upgrades and line reconfigurations.
  • Provide engineering-level support to maintenance for root cause analysis, equipment troubleshooting, and preventive improvements.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work directly with vendors and contractors for equipment specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
  • Use AutoCAD or SolidWorks to develop and revise plant layouts, equipment drawings, and process configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, employee safety, and regulatory requirements.
