Description TITLE: Processing Room Lead DEPARTMENT: Processing REPORTS TO: Processing Room Manager SHIFT: Monday - Saturday HOURS: 9:30 P.M. - 5:30 A.M. POSITION SUMMARY: The Processing Lead is responsible for effectively and efficiently carrying out all the tasks and duties of the Processing Room as well as assisting the Processing Room Manager with their responsibilities when they are out. More importantly they are responsible for ensuring that all orders are prepared/processed according to company and customer specifications effectively and efficiently; training new processing personnel in their daily functions and procedures; assist when and where necessary throughout the processing room to ensure products get to staging in an efficient and timely manner; ensure that other Processing personnel receive any special or additional information for the customer from management and assist in routine inspections. The Processing Lead may assist other warehouse personnel in their daily activities and must perform all other duties as assigned on an as needed basis. The Processing Lead reports to the Processing Room Manager and checks in with the Processing Room Manager daily. REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations of the Processing Room under their control. Plans, directs, and supervises the daily activities of the Processing Room as needed and directed. Communicate all product related quality issues, shortages, downgrades, and other situations that may impact the customer or another department in a timely manner. Learns the use of specialized processing equipment. portioning machines, , scalers, pin boning, etc.) Assist with general labor tasks to support the processing team and meet production goals. Check quality of all products before they leave the cutting room. Ensure HACCP and BRC procedures are followed. Report any product or quality concerns immediately to the supervisor or manager. Assist the Processing Manager in working with the Purchasing department to maintain open communication about the products we receive. Maintain good working relationships with all departments. Assist in preparing various reports on department’s efficiency relative to yield and volume. Complete all daily paperwork. Cycle yields on all products. Review overall efficiency. Be flexible and open to cross-training in different areas as needed. Assist in training and operation meetings on as needed basis. Maintain cleaning schedules for processing room along with appropriate documentation. Follow all company safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures. Follow directives and perform efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Reviews and understands all SOP’s (Standard Operation Procedures). Complete all training as required. Handle other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager. Plan, directs and supervises the daily activities of the Processing Room as needed and directed. Assist the Processing Manager in working with the Purchasing department to maintain open communication about the products we receive. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience: High School Diploma Five or more years of progressively responsible, related experience in a position of comparable scope and size to the Company. Prior experience in wholesale trade industry preferred. Knowledge of seafood HACCP and BRC. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and Word. Able to learn SeaSoft and /or other software packages. Excellent problem solving and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to read and write in English. (ability to speak Spanish a plus) Basic arithmetic ability needed to count and take inventory. Must have strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Able to transfer attention from one task to another frequently without affecting performance. Active listening skills are required. Always displays judgment and tact. Ability to work in a cold and fast-paced environment. Dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible schedules as required. Ability to work on own with minimal supervision.
