Downer’s Energy & Utilities division is seeking an experienced Procurement & Contracts Manager – Major Projects to play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects across Australia, with a strong focus on major capital works programs.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking a commercially astute leader with:

  • 10+ years’ experience in project procurement in the energy, infrastructure or resources sector (Tier 1 preferred).
  • Proven success in leading high-value bids and tenders.
  • Experience with complex procurement models, subcontracting and international supply chain management.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship management and influencing skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (commerce, engineering, construction, supply chain or related field); MBA preferred.
Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead procurement strategy development for complex, high-value infrastructure projects ($500m–$1bn+).
  • Manage end-to-end procurement, subcontracting, and vendor engagement across bid and mobilisation phases.
  • Partner with project leaders, bid teams, and technical experts to deliver commercially sound solutions.
  • Negotiate and execute major subcontract packages and manage supplier performance to ensure project success.
  • Integrate ESG, sustainability and supplier diversity initiatives into procurement strategies.
