Description

We’re looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Sustainable Procurement Coordinator to join our Procurement team at Breedon on the Hill.

This is an exciting opportunity to help embed sustainability and responsible sourcing across our procurement activities. You’ll support the onboarding of suppliers, help develop sustainable sourcing practices and ensure our procurement processes meet environmental, ethical and audit requirements.

Working closely with our Sustainable Supply Chain Manager, Category Managers, suppliers and teams from across the business, you’ll play an important role in improving processes, managing supplier information and supporting our sustainability ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the new supplier process, including the mailbox, documentation, trackers and approval requirements.
  • Ensuring supplier forms and supporting documents are complete, accurate and stored appropriately.
  • Monitoring outstanding approvals and working with stakeholders to progress them promptly.
  • Supporting the development and digitisation of supplier management processes.
  • Producing procurement reports and dashboards to demonstrate performance and improvements.
  • Supporting sustainability audits and assessments, progressing towards leading audits independently.
  • Building effective supplier relationships and encouraging sustainable practices.
  • Managing the contract database and monitoring key dates, including renewals, rebates and tender notices.
  • Supporting Procurement communications, reporting, volunteering activities and wider team projects.
  • Providing cover for compliance, supplier due diligence, Avetta management and audit-related activities.
  • Identifying and helping to manage sustainability-related supply-chain risks.
  • Building strong relationships with Accounts Payable, Internal Audit, Compliance, Communications and Sustainability colleagues.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • A genuine interest in sustainability and responsible procurement.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to collect, interpret and present information.
  • A practical and proactive approach to solving problems.
  • Strong relationship-building and teamwork skills.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word, or a willingness to develop these.
  • An interest in using AI and automation to improve systems, processes and communications.
  • Experience of audits or working within a large, multi-site business would be beneficial, but it is not essential. Knowledge of the construction materials industry is also not required.

Job Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays on top
  • Holiday Purchase Scheme, up to 5 days per holiday year
  • Volunteer Scheme
  • Share Saver Scheme
  • Company Life Assurance Scheme
  • Digital GP
  • Enhanced Maternity, Adoption & Paternity Scheme
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme for health and wellbeing support
  • Discounts on a wide range of products through our employee benefits platform
  • Broad learning opportunities and career progression pathways.
