We are currently accepting applications for a Procurement Lead – New Business to join our Australia Sector Supply Chain team, supporting new business opportunities and sector growth initiatives. This role can be based out of Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide or Brisbane.
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will work collaboratively with QinetiQ leadership, functional team members and external partners to deliver high-quality procurement input into bids, tenders and investment opportunities. This position will focus on ensuring compliant, cost-effective and value driven procurement solutions that contribute to successful business outcomes.

THE PROCUREMENT LEAD – NEW BUSINESS WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

Supporting the development and review of procurement solutions for bids, proposals, and contracts in line with QinetiQ policies and compliance requirements
Assisting with subcontractor engagement, quotations, and documentation to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant inputs to customer submissions.
Liaising with Category Managers to align with category plans and incorporate supplier and market insights.
Contributing to the implementation of standardised procurement processes, templates and governance
Supporting the integration of sustainability, diversity and risk management into procurement activities
Maintaining awareness of compliance, restrictions and accreditations relevant to Defence and national security
Working with Supply Chain, Finance, Logistics and Trade Control teams to ensure coordinated procurement practices
Providing guidance to project and business development teams on procurement requirements
As a suitably experienced and well- rounded procurement professional, the Procurement Lead – New Business will have:
A tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Previous experience in procurement, supply chain or commercial roles, ideally within Defence, Aerospace or other highly regulated sectors
Demonstrated experience contributing to bid or project procurement activities
Experience engaging with suppliers, preparing request for quotation and reviewing supplier proposals
Solid experience working in Defence and Secure Government environments with particular focus on Defence and Aerospace markets within those environments
Familiarity with procurement governance frameworks, compliance obligations and risk management processes
The ability to contribute to bid and procurement solutions by gathering, reviewing and presenting supplier information
Knowledge of contract compliance, trade controls and supplier assurance processes
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to analyse supplier proposals and identify risks, gaps or opportunities
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple functions and geographies
Awareness of sustainability, diversity and social value considerations in procurement
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance. Current security clearance is advantageous.
