Black Gold Farms has an exciting new position available for a Procurement Manager. The role of the Procurement Manager is to support Black Gold Farms’ business strategy through efficient execution of purchasing activities. This role is critical in procuring crop inputs and other products for Black Gold Farms’ operations.
Responsibilities of this role include:
1. Develop a product procurement strategy that identifies cost savings opportunities through market analysis, business needs assessment, and supplier evaluation.
2. Work closely with Operations, Agronomy, Sales, and other Business Units to forecast and execute their purchasing needs.
3. Collaborate with internal experts on product effectiveness to make purchasing decisions that offer the best overall value for the operation.
4. Develop, cultivate, and maintain strategic partner relationships with key suppliers.
5. Develop and implement meaningful metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) in efforts to deliver desired results.
6. Negotiate and manage supplier contracts to ensure the most efficient terms and conditions for the business.
7. Engage with suppliers and internal teams to drive supplier performance and resolve quality issues.
8. Communicate with site managers on a consistent basis to ensure their product needs are being met.
9. Recommend product resource levels at individual farm locations and regionally as needed.
10. Collect and maintain inventory data for farm locations.
11. Manage open orders and follow up with suppliers to develop timelines for order delivery.
12. Participate in financial planning & budgeting with operations as related to respective spend areas.
13. Coordinate with internal departments to resolve any payment and receipt discrepancies.
14. Manage all supplier rebate or customer incentive programs.
15. Champion implementation and integration of procurement systems and tools.
16. Assist with development of procurement business rules, policy, standards, and guidance.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in business management, supply chain management or related field
· 5 years’ experience in product purchasing and sourcing in an ag-related environment
· 5 years’ experience in supply chain management
· Excellent negotiation skills
· Experience conducting market analysis and reporting
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· MS Office proficiency
Amount of Travel: TBD but initially appx 15%
Location of Position: Grand Forks, ND is preferred, but consideration will be given to locations in proximity to farming operations.
