Under the direction of the Vice President / Chief Financial Officer, the Procurement Manager is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, components, and services required for metal tubing and welding manufacturing operations as well as non-production acquisitions. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards, supplier reliability, and production continuity. The Procurement Manager works closely with sales, production, engineering, quality, and warehouse teams to support operational efficiency and strategic growth. Requirements Duties and Responsibilities • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals and production demands • Source and manage suppliers for raw materials such as steel tubing, sheet metal, welding consumables, gases, and fabrication components as well as non-production purchases • Support sales through finding new suppliers, if applicable, and negotiating best cost during quoting process • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable agreements • Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and compliance with specifications ensuring lead times are met • Serve as an escalation point for critical supplier or stakeholder issues, resolving challenges thoughtfully and effectively • Collaborate with production planning to ensure timely availability of materials and prevent downtime • Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete stock • Analyze market trends, pricing, and supply risks (e.g., steel price fluctuations, supply chain disruptions) • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements • Manage procurement budgets and track cost savings initiatives • Lead and develop procurement staff, if applicable • Support continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain and operations Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field • 5+ years of procurement experience in manufacturing, preferably in metal fabrication, tubing, or welding environments • Strong knowledge of raw materials (carbon steel, stainless steel) and welding supplies • Proven negotiation and contract management skills • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Preferred Qualifications • Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CPM) • Experience in lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) inventory systems • Knowledge of ISO quality standards and compliance requirements • Familiarity with global sourcing and import/export regulations Key Skills • Strategic sourcing and supplier management • Cost analysis and budgeting • Negotiation and communication • Inventory control and demand planning • Risk management and contingency planning • Leadership and team development Working Conditions • Office-based with frequent interaction with production floor • Occasional travel to supplier sites or industry events • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with tight production deadlines Performance Metrics (KPIs) • Cost savings and cost avoidance • Supplier on-time delivery and quality performance • Inventory turnover and stock accuracy • Production downtime due to material shortages • Contract compliance and procurement cycle time EEOC Policy It is the policy of Bohn and Dawson, Incorporated, not to discriminate against any applicant for employment, or any employee because of age, color, sex, disability, national origin, race, religion, veteran, or any other protected status.
