Description

ReOrbit is looking for a motivated Procurement Manager to join the team at our HQ in Helsinki, Finland or UK. We are looking for an experienced procurement manager who is proactive and confident to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of the team, communicating with internal teams and external partners.
As our Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for collecting technical requirements for all components and materials needed for spacecraft production, identifying potential suppliers, and developing procurement strategies. This role is hands-on, requiring close collaboration with ReOrbit’s mechanical, electrical, RF, and system engineers to understand technical specifications and ensure the procurement and qualification of goods and services for the SmallSatCom project. You will also develop sourcing strategies and manage vendor contracts. This position reports to the Chief Financial and Operative Officer and is based in Helsinki, Finland.
It’s an exciting chance to join a dynamic start-up, with the opportunity to make a real impact, to reach our goal of pushing the boundaries of space data transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the engineering teams to gather requirements for materials, components, design, and quality.
  • Identify, onboard, and coordinate with vendors and material suppliers.
  • Work extensively on contracts with third-party vendors, including price negotiations, service level agreements, exception handling, and other relevant warranty matters.
  • Prepare and send out Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for raw materials, goods, components, or services required by the company.
  • Create detailed and comprehensive scoping and contractual documents to clarify every aspect of the technical and commercial relationship.
  • Track existing contracts and renegotiate and re-execute them when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with both active and potential vendors.
  • Leverage your broad network of contacts to secure the best deals for the company.
  • Evaluate various risk aspects, identify mitigation solutions, and develop business continuity plans to ensure the supply chain remains resilient.
  • Ensure deliverables are received at the lowest possible cost.
  • Compare available goods with industry trends to determine appropriate pricing.
  • Apply project management skills (scheduling, cost management, communications) and coordinate internal and external resources to execute projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and technologies.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • You possess a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Industrial, Mechanical, Electronics, or Robotics procurement or a related field, along with 5-10 years of relevant experience in the GEO space industry.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • You can manage multiple projects simultaneously, plan, delegate, and evaluate progress towards goals.
  • You have strong negotiation skills, with the ability to understand price points and negotiate effectively.
  • You excel in problem-solving, enabling you to address issues with products or services that do not meet quality standards.
  • You have demonstrated success in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, small-team environment and can manage competing priorities.
  • You are a highly proactive team player with excellent technical communication and presentation skills.
  • You are willing and able to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
