MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Advanced university degree in law, preferably with an emphasis on commercial contract law and five years of professional legal experience in commercial law including at least two years of relevant experience in public procurement in an international context; OR
• A first level university degree in law combined with an additional seven years of relevant work experience and with completion of professional qualification to practice law in a national/state jurisdiction may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
• Working knowledge (proficiency – level C) of English and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency – level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

• Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions.
• Extent and relevance of experience in the field of the Corporate Environmental Responsibility.
• Demonstrated knowledge of internationally recognized procurement standards and of all phases of international procurement techniques and operations used in contracting for a diverse range of goods and services.
• Extent and relevance of experience in public sector procurement, preferably at international level, in drafting procurement procedures, solicitation documents and contractual instruments, providing support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to draft complex contracts with substantial legal content in English is considered a strong asset.
• Working knowledge (proficiency – level C) of French and/or Spanish is considered an asset.
