Description

The Procurement Quantity Surveyor will support the effective commercial management of construction projects by delivering accurate cost control, procurement, valuation, and reporting activities across key work packages. The Quantity Surveyor plays a key role in ensuring financial discipline, contract compliance, and alignment between on-site progress and commercial records, working closely with both internal teams and external subcontractors.
We are looking for a qualified experience Procurement Quantity Surveyor who has worked for main contractors. Of particular importance to us is the experience of being able to deliver in multiple disciplines in terms of complex procurement strategies and work packages including civil works, steelworks, roofs, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), cladding, façade, fit out and finishing.

THE PROFILE

  • Level of Education (Minimum): Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Work Experience (years): 5 - 7
  • Functional Experience: Mandatory
  • Sectoral Experience: Mandatory ie experience working with main contractors
  • Driving License: Preferred

Technical Know How/Speciality/ Certificate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, from a UK institution.
  • RICS Chartered Quantity Surveyor or currently enrolled and actively working towards RICS Chartership status.

  • Organised and analytical, with strong attention to detail
  • Commercially aware with good judgment in cost/value decisions
  • Proactive and able to work independently under moderate supervision
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
  • Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and professional standards

Technical Competencies

  • Sound knowledge of quantity surveying principles, cost control, and commercial management
  • Familiarity with NEC, JCT, or similar contract forms
  • Skilled in measurement (SMM/NRM), cost analysis, and valuation
  • Understanding of construction methods, procurement cycles, and subcontract administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and quantity take-off software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam)

Responsibilities
  • Present to the client the work packages named above in terms of cost plans, budgets and procurement strategies
  • Assist in the preparation and management of cost plans, budgets, and procurement strategies for assigned packages or trades.
  • Undertake quantity take-offs, measurement, and remeasurement in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare and issue tender documentation, assess bids, and support competitive subcontractor selection.
  • Handle pricing and supply chain information in a professional manner with sound judgement and discretion
  • Administer subcontractor contracts, including valuations, change control, payment certification, and final account reconciliation.
  • Track and report on cost performance, cash flow, and commercial risks, ensuring alignment with the programme.
  • Liaise with site teams to verify work progress, scope changes, and early warning events.
  • Assist in the management of variations, compensation events, and claims, including supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to the monthly cost reporting process and provide inputs for internal and client-facing reports.
  • Support the Senior QS or Commercial Manager in audits, reconciliations, and cost forecasting exercises.
  • Ensure compliance with contract obligations (e.g., NEC, JCT) and company procedures.
