JOB SUMMARY

The Procurement Review Unit (PRU) sits within the Strategy & Communications, Standards & Oversight Team (SCSO), which is part of the wider Strategy, Assurance and Standards Team (SAS), within the Government Commercial Function within The Cabinet Office.

PRU is a new team, transforming public procurement to support the Procurement Act 2023. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2023/54/contents/enacted The ambition is to raise standards in public procurement, driving accountability for contracting authorities and suppliers in the UK. To deliver its aims effectively, the PRU is comprised of three services:

  • The existing Public Procurement Review Service (PPRS)
  • A new Procurement Compliance Service (PCS)
  • A new Debarment Review Service (DRS)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidates have the potential to make a significant impact by supporting senior stakeholders, including the PRU, senior management, and the broader team. There will also be communication with Ministerial teams, and the submission of supporting documents.

There will be an expectation for the job holder to deploy their skills competently to:

  • Investigate procurement issues within public sector contracts, and supporting the delivery of high quality recommendations to contracting authorities;
  • Support the team through a period of change as the implementing the Transforming Public Procurement reforms;
  • Set high standards of customer service within the team, role modelling behaviours, and having an active awareness of other caseworker’s engagement with key stakeholders and service users;
  • Ensure the service is marketed in the most effective way, with stakeholder relationships created and maintained using strong communication skills, as well as commercial knowledge;
