JOB DESCRIPTION

Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global leader in the field of scientific solutions, is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Procurement Sourcing Specialist II to join our team in Rochester, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, with knowledge of SAP and Power BI being an advantage.
We are seeking someone with excellent negotiation skills, experience in the manufacturing industry, and a solid understanding of procurement for direct materials.
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are critical for this role. Additionally, the candidate should have a good understanding of manufacturing workflows, a sense of urgency, and the ability to identify and lead cost savings projects to drive productivity within the organization.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of proven experience as a Buyer / Procurement Sourcing Specialist or in a similar procurement role within the manufacturing industry, with expertise in Packaging Procurement being a plus.
  • Educational equivalency may be considered with more years of industry experience
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyze data and generate reports.
  • (Optional) Experience with SAP or other procurement and inventory management software.
  • (Optional) Familiarity with Power BI, creating visualizations, and analyzing data.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Understanding of bill of materials (BOM) and technical drawings.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing workflow and its impact on procurement.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Proactively identify cost-saving projects and implement productivity improvements.
  • Strong collaboration skills in working closely with suppliers across the globe and relevant parties involved.
