Description

As an Intermediate Procurement Specialist you will support internal stakeholders by obtaining quotes for materials and services, issuing purchase orders, and expediting deliveries. You will analyze the market conditions for materials and services within their portfolio, creating value / cost savings through strategic sourcing. Intermediate Specialists will use Irving Shipbuilding’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) & MRP (Material Resource Planning) systems to file, store and manage spend on executed contracts. They will use these systems to determine actions to be completed, and work to help find solutions cross-departmentally. They will also use these systems to view, reconcile and approve invoices.

  • Develop and improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance
  • Issue POs for material
  • Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements
  • Execution of negotiated contract through ISI’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) & MRP (Material Resource Planning) systems.
  • Provide advice on contractual claims
  • Develop and implement category sourcing strategies
  • Analyze market conditions (ex: pricing, availability, lead-time and capacity)
  • Support new product introduction activities
  • Apply the principles of continuous improvement to the design and development of supply chain processes
  • Undertake cost analysis for direct material and services
  • Post secondary education in a relevant discipline preferred
  • In-depth understanding of end-to-end supply chain, procurement activities, generally achieved through practical on the job work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assigned procurement tasks, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Shipbuilding, Aerospace/Defence, Heavy Manufacturing, Construction industry
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of information with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS office suite
