Description

NDI is looking to add an a procurement specialist to our Thorofare, NJ team to support in locating key suppliers- such as machine shops and fabrication shops- negotiating the company’s purchasing agreements and making sure materials and products meet the company’s specification and timelines.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in procurement in the DOD sector and be a strong communicator who is organized and timely.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings. Possess strong project management skills, with the ability to define milestones and adhere to deadlines.
  • Self-manage workload, collaborate with vendors, and project leads to support customer project requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and identify contract changes, root causes of issues, and transition plans in collaboration with the Program Managers.
  • Foster supplier competition, manage procurement risks, and pursue cost-saving opportunities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with qualified and reputable suppliers and expand the supplier base through market research.
  • Receive, analyze, and process material and service requests.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions
  • Monitor and manage order fulfillment to meet production schedules and inventory requirements.
  • Track and complete procurement transactions, including status reporting, documentation accuracy, and resolution of non-conformances.
  • Assist with documentation, reporting, and coordination of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned in support of operations and procurement objectives.
  • Responsible for collecting and verifying welder documentation in accordance with contract requirements

Requirements

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to determine the product needs and to create constructive relationships with vendors.
  • Project management: will be managing multiple projects at one time. The ability to plan, delegate and evaluate progress toward goals is necessary for managing these projects.
  • Negotiation: will be in charge of negotiating vendor contracts, must understand price points and be able to negotiate effectively.
  • Problem solving: must have strong problem-solving skills. For example, they may need to solve the problem of a product or service that does not meet the quality standards of the company.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • This position is not remote and work in Thorofare, NJ office is required
  • Travel as needed – 1-2 days of travel 2x a month – Travel expenses are reimbursed
  • 3-5 of years of procurement experience required – experience with DoD preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in CAD required, Inventor preferred
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs and be able to inspect parts
  • Familiarity with DoD Contracts a plus
  • Welding background preferred but not required
