Description

ABOUT US

At RPS, we’re solar-powered and people-powered! Every pump that leaves our warehouse means one less generator or power line—and cleaner, safer access to water. It supports healthier animals, plants, and people while boosting the resilience, independence, and self-sufficiency of rural families and communities.
We’re mission-driven, impact-focused, and yes—we’re as cool as it sounds. We help folks across the country pump water sustainably, from off-grid ranches to remote homesteads. We’re a team of tinkerers, builders, customer champions, and adventurers who take pride in solving real-world problems with clean technology. No corporate fluff, just honest work that matters.

THE JOB

We’re looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our team in Woodland, CA and help more people access clean, reliable water—without relying on fossil fuels or costly infrastructure. If you love solving real-world problems, supporting independent communities, and being part of something that actually makes a difference, you’ll feel right at home here. This role will have 1 direct report.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead all things procurement, from sourcing and vendor selection to contract negotiations and purchase orders.
  • Review and improve procurement processes so we’re efficient, compliant, and set up to scale.
  • Support inventory control by reviewing stock levels and recommending reorder quantities while minimizing waste and storage costs.
  • Leverage forecasting modules (Netsuite or similar) to plan ahead to avoid surprises.
  • Handle tariff classification and compliance to keep imports/exports cost efficient.
  • Navigate technical products and parts purchasing, ensuring accuracy on specs and quality.
  • Ensure product and packaging feedback delivered from the fulfillment and customer service teams gets integrated into subsequent order specs to keep improving over time
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a dependable supply and resolve any delivery or quality issues quickly.
  • Work with international suppliers across time zones. Every now and then that means a late night call or message from California to keep orders moving or shipments on track. Not an everyday thing, but when it matters, it matters.
  • Keep a close eye on spending and share insights that help us make smart business decisions.
  • Coordinate logistics with providers to get product here safely and affordably under the required timeframe
  • Collaborate with internal teams to forecast needs and mitigate shortages, keeping our warehouse moving and our customers happy with timely delivery.
