We are seeking a Product Data Specialist to play a key role in ensuring the integrity, structure, and usability of our product data. They will focus heavily on data cleanup, product categorization, and supporting day-to-day product maintenance tasks. The incumbent helps to execute product-related data projects that improve internal operations and enhance the customer experience. Key Responsibilities
Product Data Cleanup & Maintenance
- Cross-reference internal SKUs to vendor SKUs to support procurement and system accuracy.
- Change or reassign product numbers as part of system or categorization changes.
- Confirm and identify obsolete products to support inventory accuracy and system hygiene.
Product Structuring & Categorization
- Sort products within product lines into cohesive, logical groupings for improved navigation.
- Categorize and organize products to support printed materials (e.g., Net Sheets) and online catalog usability.
- Set up logical catalog structures across a product base of 20,000+ items.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Use Excel and Power BI to manipulate, validate, and extract insights from product data.
- Support product team requests through data clean-up and structure optimization.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Must-Haves
- Industry Product Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of plumbing, PVF, or hydronics (e.g., pipe sizing, system components, vendor familiarity).
- Advanced Excel Skills: Proficient in XLOOKUP, CONCATENATE, LEFT/MID/RIGHT functions, and general data manipulation.
- Attention to Detail: A natural ability to spot inconsistencies and maintain high data quality standards.
- Organizational Thinking: Ability to group, sort, and structure product data logically for both internal use and customer-facing tools.
- Proactive Communication: Comfort working with Product Managers and asking clarifying questions to understand business needs.
Nice-to-Haves
- SQL or other data querying experience.
- Familiarity with Power BI (for extracting data, not building dashboards).
- Experience working in AS400 or similar legacy systems.
- Ability to assertively represent the needs of the data function within broader product discussions.
- Prior experience supporting catalog development or eCommerce product structures.
