Salary: £35,000-£45,000 per annum dependant on experience

Purpose of the role: The Product Design Engineer will be responsible for taking product concepts from initial idea through to manufacture. This includes prototyping, testing, iterating, and supporting the transition to mass production in partnership with manufacturing partners, the supply chain, and compliance teams. The ideal candidate will be both creative and practical, with a strong understanding of design for manufacture (DFM), materials, and production processes.

The ‘how’ we fulfil our role is very important and therefore the following skills required for this role have been identified as;

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in product design or mechanical engineering role
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
  • Experience with design for manufacture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to iterate designs quickly
  • Understanding of compliance requirements and testing standards
  • Experience working with suppliers or manufacturers
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience with consumer electronics or interactive entertainment systems
  • Familiarity with prototyping tools (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting)
  • Basic understanding of electronics and how they integrate with mechanical designs
  • Passion for games, entertainment tech, or competitive socialising spaces

Responsibilities

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and refine product designs from concept through to production-ready status
  • Produce CAD models, technical drawings, and assembly documentation
  • Create physical and digital prototypes for testing and evaluation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software and operations
  • Work closely with external manufacturing partners to ensure feasibility and high-quality output
  • Identify and solve design challenges throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Conduct and document product testing, including stress, safety, and performance tests
  • Support supply chain and sourcing teams with component selection and supplier interactions
  • Ensure all designs meet regulatory compliance standards and company quality benchmarks
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and documentation standards
