ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree level in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Relevant Mechanical engineering background with 2 – 5+ years’ experience.
  • Knowledge of management of change and engineering risk assessments.
  • Competent in the use of CAD/3D software such as Fusion 360, solid works etc.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with Refrigeration, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Piping, Valves, Compressors, etc.
  • Knowledge of pressure testing and PED testing.
  • Have or working towards chartered engineering status
Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE:

The Product Design Engineer role is a key appointment within the engineering team at Clade at time of change and growth in the business. The role requires an experienced mechanical/product engineer to help lead the design and development of Clade’s new heat pump range. This role is to help lead on development and engineering activities to provide detailed 3D models and designs of the heat pump products, producing manufacturing level designs, creating BOM’s and handover information to the manufacturing team.
The role involves working closely with the wider engineering team and suppliers to provide full designs for products ensuring Fusion 360 3D models are complete and kept updated with product changes and innovations.
This role is ideally suited to a degree qualified engineer with experience in product/mechanical engineering. The role will suit somebody who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment who enjoys product development and wanting to make a significant contribution to a growing business.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review product P&ID drawings, comment on feasibility and understand requirements for implementation within heat pump or refrigeration product.
  • Developing CAD product drawings.
  • Develop technical plans based on initial concept and ideas from R&D team.
  • Designing products based on the requirements of the wider engineering team.
  • Develop accurate 3D models of the product in Autodesk Fusion 360 taking the lead on design application such as physical layouts etc.
  • Presenting design plans to Managers, colleagues and clients.
  • Working closely with the Product Manager and wider engineering team.
  • Develop accurate BOM’s produced from 3D models with attributes matching design information and drawings.
  • · Ensure regulatory compliance for mechanical fixed equipment.
  • · Taking the lead identifying opportunities for design/product improvement throughout the design process, supporting the manufacturing and engineering teams with value engineering.
  • Carrying out inspections on equipment and various mechanical systems during manufacturing.
  • Producing technical documents required for the products for installation and O&M documentation.
  • Take part in HAZID and HAZOP reviews of products.
  • Help manage design process and systems to ensure correct design and quality control processes are followed.
  • Create handover design and manufacturing packages are handed over to the Manufacturing Team.
  • Attend project meetings internally and with clients as required.
  • Assist in the resolution of problems and issues in manufacturing as they occur.
  • Take responsibly for personal development and learning, attending seminars, CPD sessions and training courses to advance industry knowledge and capabilities.
