JOB TITLE: FURNITURE DESIGNER

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Product Designer to design engineered solutions for the manufacturing of residential and vehicle seating products. The role involves driving improvements in quality performance and cost while leading development teams to meet project goals and complete them on time. The Product Designer will specify materials and manufacturing processes for new or existing designs, validate designs using engineering calculations or analysis software, and conduct product testing to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design engineered solutions used in the manufacturing of seating products.
  • Participate in and lead development teams to meet project goals and cost targets.
  • Specify materials and manufacturing processes for new or existing designs.
  • Validate designs using engineering calculations or analysis software.
  • Conduct or coordinate product testing for compliance with quality standards.
  • Assist in prototyping and trialing new product designs or improvements.
  • Create drawings and documentation for use by various departments.
  • Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) in a timely manner.
  • Stay informed with Intellectual Property (IP) in the furniture industry.
  • Enter and maintain product data in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Up to 10% domestic/international travel may be required.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Mechanical engineering expertise.
  • Experience in mechanical design and new product development.
  • Ability to validate designs using engineering calculations or software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in new product introduction projects from concept to launch.
  • 3-4 years of experience
  • Hands on experience with fabrication
  • Knowledge of specifying materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with various departments.
  • Understanding of Intellectual Property in the furniture industry.

Work Environment
The work environment involves collaborating with multiple departments such as PD&E, Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, and Merchandising. The position may require domestic and international travel up to 10%.
