Description
About Us More than 600 million children worldwide fail to achieve foundational skills like literacy and basic numeracy, despite the majority of them attending school. EIDU is a nonprofit education implementer currently serving nearly a million students in Kenya, with plans to scale to tens of millions through government partnerships. A year-long randomised control trial showed that programs powered by our technology add the equivalent of at least 0.5 years of learning development. You will work in the Berlin-based technology company building the modular enterprise software platform that underpins EIDU's programs and will serve multiple governments across countries to make large-scale education delivery possible. If you'd like to learn more, visit eidu.com About the role We are looking for a Product Designer who thrives in complex enterprise environments and can create and evolve our design system. As a member of the Product team, you will shape the user experience across Trellis's enterprise application, a platform that is customised to different users: implementation partners, government stakeholders, school directors, and teachers. This is not a role for someone who wants to push pixels on marketing pages. You will be designing systems, not just screens, and solving hard interaction problems across roles, permissions, and contexts that span multiple countries. What you will do: Create and evolve our design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and accessibility across all platform modules (Forms, Dashboards, Training, Assessment, and more). Design complex enterprise interfaces: role-based views, multi-tenant dashboards, data visualization, and workflow tools used by organizations with layered hierarchies. Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to define interaction patterns, user flows, and information architecture for a platform serving implementation partners, government stakeholders, school directors, and teachers. Build and maintain a component library in Figma (or equivalent) that works across web and mobile platforms. Use AI-augmented design workflows to move fast: leverage tools like Figma AI, Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent to generate design variations, prototype interactions, and bridge design-to-code handoff. Run usability tests to validate designs, especially across diverse user contexts (urban offices, rural classrooms, varying connectivity). Co-design quantitative experiments to measure the impact of design decisions. Support cross-functional squads, contributing to shaping and building within fast iteration loops. What you should bring: Essential The desire to use your skills to bring about positive social change. A portfolio demonstrating work on complex enterprise or B2B software: multi-role platforms, data-heavy dashboards, or workflow tools. Strong experience creating and evolving design systems (component libraries, design tokens, documentation). Deep familiarity with Figma and modern design tooling. Fluency with AI-powered design and prototyping tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Figma AI). You use AI to accelerate your workflow, not replace your judgment. Experience designing for both web and mobile platforms. Comfort working across cultural contexts and designing for users with varying levels of digital literacy. Willingness to travel to implementation countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, and additional markets as we expand. Expect approximately 6-8 weeks of travel per year. Nice to have Experience with data visualization or analytics dashboards. Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) in enterprise contexts. Experience designing for offline-first or low-connectivity environments. Graphics design, game design, or illustration skills. What we offer: Work on one of the biggest problems in the world: ensuring every child gets the education they deserve. A small, high-impact team where your work shapes the product direction. An open environment where feedback is welcomed, promoting mutual growth. Annual up-skilling budget A progress over process culture Competitive equity-awarding model High degree of flexibility with regard to working hours and vacations A hybrid working arrangement About us
