Description

The Microsoft Teams Design team is looking for a talented Product Designer II to help define and design compelling experiences that empower teams to achieve more together. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the direction of how our users stay on top of critical communications, as well as consider the role AI plays in terms of optimizing notifications for both staying informed and caught up, as well as being able to focus on critical work without distraction.

This position is a hybrid position located in Redmond, WA.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems)
  • Experience with strong prototyping skills; ability to showcase work through recordings and detailed walkthroughs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in iOS and Android design
  • Deep empathy for the customer and a strong sense of customer obsession
  • Excellent storytelling and problem-solving abilities
  • Clear spike in interaction design—this is the top priority
  • Solid product thinking and strategic mindset
  • Ability to clearly articulate problems to stakeholders to drive progress on major initiatives
  • Collaborate closely across a Design teams as well as UX Researchers (UXR), Product Managers (PMs) and UX Engineers (UXE)
    Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities
  • Estimate time requirements for design tasks and deliverables
  • Define product design needs using user insights and business goals
  • Identify and raise unspoken user needs to senior team members
  • Support synthesis of user research and data to uncover broader issues
  • Generate and articulate design ideas from multiple perspectives (user, business, tech)
  • Facilitate ideation sessions and design sprints
  • Rapidly prototype new product concepts with guidance from senior designers
  • Present prototypes to teams and customers for feedback
  • Use digital and physical tools to demonstrate design intent
  • Ensure prototypes align with brand standards and advocate for best-in-class tools
  • Collaborate with Engineering to support design implementation
  • Conduct QA to ensure pixel-perfect execution
  • Iterate on designs during development to optimize user experience
  • Contribute to visual design from concept to final delivery
  • Create visual assets such as mood boards, storyboards, icons, layouts, and redlines
  • Support the development of a cohesive visual language for products
  • Create wireframes, journey maps, personas, and task flows
  • Deliver interaction design artifacts at various levels of fidelity
  • Assist in enhancing product UX through detailed interaction models
  • Ensure designs support intuitive and effective user experiences
