Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Product Designer II for Datadog’s iOS and Android Mobile Apps, you will own the end-to-end user experience for engineers and on-call responders who monitor and act on their system’s performance while on the go. You’ll take ownership of key mobile experiences and contribute to building a cohesive, high-quality native app that makes complex observability workflows feel effortless in a mobile context.
You’ll work across the entire product development process—from research and concepting to execution and Q/A—alongside a dedicated mobile team that includes Product and Engineering. You’ll explore what makes mobile usage distinct for our users, apply mobile-first thinking to core observability workflows, and expand the Datadog Mobile design system to grow our native iOS and Android component library.
This role sits within our Service Management design team, which supports engineers who rely on Datadog during high-stakes incidents. You’ll collaborate with other product designers in the Service Management and Datadog design team to turn desktop experiences into native mobile features. Your work will empower users to investigate issues, collaborate across teams, and stay informed—even when they’re away from their desks.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to understand how our customers use Datadog and what they need to succeed.
  • Act as an end-to-end product designer who can sketch, prototype, test, and see your product through to production.
  • Bring your designs to life with intuitive interaction design leveraging your prototyping skills in Figma.
  • Utilize research practices, like usability testing, 1-1 interviews, surveys, and product analytics to understand how users are using the mobile apps and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate both your design work and the support for your design decisions across the company.
  • Work with the rest of the product design team to adapt patterns and standards from our web application to mobile.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand how your designs will be built and Q/A them before we ship.
