Product Design Engineer
Custom Faberkin, is a worldwide supplier of quality industrial sewn products located in Fond du Lac, WI. We are seeking a skilled Product Designer to join our contract sewing company. The Pattern Maker will be responsible for creating and adjusting paper patterns used in the manufacturing process of various textile products. This role requires a keen eye for detail, proficiency in both manual and computer-aided design (CAD) systems, and an understanding of textile construction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and design paper patterns based on designers’ sketches or specifications.
• Use manual drafting methods to draw patterns.
• Make adjustments and alterations to patterns as needed.
• Collaborate closely with designers and sample makers to ensure the accuracy of the final product.
• Grade patterns to create a range of sizes for each design.
• Ensure that patterns adhere to established production standards and guidelines.
• Test and adjust patterns by creating prototypes.
• Document and maintain records of all created patterns.
• Recommend improvements and modifications to optimize the production process.
• Assess and choose appropriate fabric or material for each pattern.
• Excellent communication skills needed
• Guide and direct team members by effective leadership to meet production goals
• Work with support from engineering, quality, maintenance, purchasing, and owner
• Collaborate with team to discuss base designs and translate their ideas into paper patterns.
• Manual drafting techniques to create patterns based on design models and blueprints.
• Adjust and refine patterns to meet production standards based on fittings and feedback.
• Maintain detailed records of all created patterns and any modifications made.
• Work with production team to ensure patterns are correctly implemented and troubleshoot any issues that arise during manufacturing.
• Understands and implements methodologies that enable associates to attain policy objectives.
• Aides and oversees the design of new parts and products.
• Maintain a safe and secure work environment ensuring all safety regulations are in compliance and ensuring health and well-being for all employees
• Oversee and monitor all environmental issues and compliance
• Competent guidance that drives continuous improvement related to production efficiencies, product quality, and ensuring customer satisfaction
• Put strategies in place to develop and coordinate facilities to be efficient, prosper and grow
• Work within labor budgets to enhance company profitability
• Possess analytical abilities and good judgement for decision making at both tactical and strategic levels.
• Demonstrates leadership by taking accountability for the effectiveness of the management system.

Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a Product Designer.
• Proficiency with manual pattern making systems.
• Strong understanding of textile construction and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent fine motor skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design models.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with various fabrics and materials.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
