Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
As a Product Designer, you will form an integral part of a team that is directly connected to our customers, working in partnership with Product Managers and Engineers to design experiences into our software products that our customers will love. You will work on a variety of projects, from initial concept and discovery to final implementation, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Your expertise will contribute to creating intuitive, engaging, and beautiful products that meet user needs and business objectives.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
- Cultivate a proficient level of understanding of the needs of our customers and the behavior of our users, focusing on your portfolio (Geophysics) but also on Seequent’s product suite.
- In partnership with Product Managers, engage in user research to develop user personas and models of user behaviour.
- In partnership with Product Managers, SMEs and Engineers, engage in user experience testing to validate design concepts.
- Gain a proficient understanding of the policies, legislative and regulatory constraints the customer operates within and contribute to the compliance of product designs within these constraints.
- Select appropriate tools, methods, and design patterns to design user interactions with and experiences of a product, system, or service.
- Translate concepts into outputs and prototypes and captures user feedback or evaluation to improve designs in hybrid environment: desktop and cloud.
- Evaluate alternative design options and recommends designs taking into account performance, security, usability, and accessibility requirements.
- Evaluate design options and prototypes to obtain user feedback on requirements of developing systems, products, services, or devices.
- Evaluate the usability and accessibility of components and alternative designs. Administers a range of evaluations, recording data and feedback. Analyses evaluation data and recommends actions.
- Check systems, products, services, or devices for adherence to applicable standards, guidelines, style guides, and legislation.
- Evaluate the usability of existing or competitor systems to provide benchmark values and as input to design.
- Create visual designs, displaying an understanding of color theory, typography, and layout principles, to create a coherent and attractive design aesthetic.
- Create interaction designs, with fluid and natural user flows, ensuring that users can achieve their goals with efficiency and satisfaction.
- Create wireframes and mock-ups. Display expertise with standard design tools such as Figma.
- Conduct generative research for the development of systems, products, services, or devices.
- Plan own user research activities. Facilitate input from users and stakeholders.
- Collect and analyze user research data. Support synthesis of research and the creation of insights, reports, and presentations.
- Contribute to the selection of the user research approaches for projects and initiatives. Support the adoption of agreed approaches.
- Analyze user research, product usage, and customer success data and to create plans for improvement to the product design.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU SHOULD HAVE:
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Product Design or a related field is essential.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a Product Design team within a commercial software product company.
- Developing knowledge of the software products and domains which has been gained through deliberate effort.
- Proficient knowledge of customers and users of the product. Assists in interactions with users and customers as the member of a Product Design team.
- Proficient knowledge of the Segments and Industries served by the product.
- Proficient knowledge of Seequent and Bentley organizational structure and the position and role of the product design team.
- Plans and monitors own work (and that of others where applicable) competently within limited deadlines.
- Interacts with and influences colleagues. May oversee others or make decisions which impact routine work assigned to individuals or stages of projects. Has working level contact with customers, suppliers, and partners. Understands and collaborates on the analysis of user/customer needs and represents this in their work. Contributes fully to the work of teams by appreciating how own role relates to other roles.

Office-based working environment, work from our Toronto Canada office two or more days per week.Our newly renovated Toronto office is centrally located in downtown and easily accessible by car or public transit.
