POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Product Designer with 10+ years of professional experience designing and developing whole instrumentation products with similarities to consumer devices but for industrial, aerospace and medical applications. This role is highly hands-on and focused on mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and optimization.
You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and production teams to create designs that are functional, manufacturable, and meet quality standards. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on solving engineering challenges and translating ideas into robust, real-world products. Should be able to work from simple sketches and clean sheet design documents.

QUALIFICATIONS

· 10+ years of experience in mechanical product design, preferably for precision equipment or related industries.
· Proven track record of designing products from concept through production.
· Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
· Experience with 3D printing principles and practices.
· Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, casting, laser cutting, etc.).
· Mastery of tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T.
· Experience with prototyping, testing, and iterative design improvements.
· Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

· Develop detailed mechanical designs for new and existing products, from concept sketches to final production drawings.
· Perform calculations related to design with mastery of practical fit, function and tolerance.
· Assist with material selection, and tolerance analysis to ensure product performance and manufacturability.
· Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using [e.g., SolidWorks or similar software].
· Build and test prototypes to validate mechanical performance, durability, and user requirements.
· Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs meet production capabilities and cost targets.
· Investigate and resolve mechanical design issues during development, production, and post-launch stages.
· Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback from hardware/software engineering, quality, and customer support teams.
· Stay current with advancements in materials, manufacturing methods, and mechanical design best practices.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor
