Description
Author Design Rules, Engineering Specifications, and update these documents as required. Feasibility assessment of program-specific material combinations during the development phase, incl. sign-off on joint feasibility testing results. Sign-off thermal joining related requirements at key program milestones. Planning, execution and evaluation of thermal joining trials with new materials and/or joining processes in internal and external laboratories in alignment with cross functional teams. Support CAE methodologies development to improve simulation of thermal joining - close collaboration with CAE methods teams and laboratory testing required. “Go to” SME for Product Development team for thermal joining. Collaborate as part of a cross-functional team including Research, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Suppliers in developing and implementing new thermal joining processes in Ford. Lead/participate in solving production issues with VO, Materials, STA, and Purchasing. B.S. M.S. in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related physical science field of study. 7+ years as a Joining Engineer or similar experience. Multiple automotive launches. Self-starter. Ability to work effectively with little oversight. Team player. Understands collaboration and delivering assignments as part of a cross-functional team. Hands on engineer. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze and interpret data. Excellent communication skills. Be able to use the MS Office tools and FEDE.
