PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

At Bensons for Beds, we’re passionate about creating high-quality, innovative products that customers love. We’re now looking for a Product Development Engineer to join our talented Product team and help shape the future of our product range.
About the Role

You’ll be responsible for managing our existing product portfolio while developing new products that align with business objectives, including:

• Meeting price point and margin targets
• Designing for efficient manufacturing
• Ensuring strong brand alignment
• Defining accurate labour and material structures
• Driving value engineering initiatives
• Meeting all relevant product testing and accreditation standards
• Delivering products that perform well and meet customer expectations

Key Responsibilities

As Product Development Engineer, your role will include:

• Reducing product complexity and optimising SKU variety
• Producing samples and prototypes for:
• New product launches
• Cost-saving/value engineering projects
• Product enhancements and innovations
• Sales campaigns and exhibitions
• Maintaining accurate product specifications and engineering documentation
• Improving product performance with new materials and manufacturing methods
• Managing testing processes (e.g., FR, durability) ahead of launches
• Overseeing tick control and maintaining agreed documentation standards
• Updating and controlling revision-level documentation
