As a Product Development Engineer, you will play a central role in the development of new cold rolled products, often as a project manager coordinating and leading the activities related to the development work. The development work is in close cooperation with other functions within the company, such as production engineers, process engineers and specialists in design, joining and forming.

About the program and position
The European Graduate Program is designed to attract and develop newly graduated talent to ensure SSAB’s future critical competencies. Over 14 months, you will participate in workshops and lectures that provide in-depth knowledge of SSAB’s operations, leadership practices, and a wide network of professional contacts.
The program includes visits to SSAB’s production sites in Finland and Sweden, as well as an individual trip to a business location of particular interest. Throughout the program, you will be paired with a senior mentor who offers personalized guidance and support. The program concludes with a final presentation to SSAB’s management team, where you will share your learnings and experiences.
SSAB’s strategy includes a strong focus on the development of advanced steels. The main task of the product development department is to develop these new steels in close cooperation with production and the market. A significant part of the work is also about further developing and improving existing products. As a Product Development Engineer of cold rolled products, you will be one of the key people in this development.
Part of the work involves supporting our organization in material related issue. To stay at the forefront of our steel development, you will also participate in R&D collaboration with.
Main responsibilities
Develop new products according to yearly product development plan
Improve existing products to secure long-term competitiveness and customer satisfaction
Build relevant competence at individual level and together with strategic R&D partners
Support production and marketing area in product-related issues
About You
MSc in Materials Science or similar
Curious mindset, driven and analytical skills
Great interest in technology with the ambition to create an understanding of the correlation between material properties and the manufacturing process
Experience in the areas of metal working, processing, forming and heat treatment of steel is valuable
Solid knowledge of Swedish
Excellent English skills both written and spoken
