Description

FAB-FORM INDUSTRIES LTD.

Delta, BC
Full-time
About Fab-Form Industries Ltd.
Fab-Form Industries Ltd. (www.fab-form.com), a publicly traded company (TSX-V: FBF), is a leading innovator in sustainable concrete forming solutions, headquartered in Delta, BC. We specialize in eco-friendly products for the construction industry, including bracing systems for ICF walls and our flagship Fast-Tube (FT) formwork. As we navigate global trade challenges and advance our materials technology, we’re seeking a talented engineer to drive product innovation. Our commitment to continuous innovation is reflected in our active patenting of new products, and we share 10% of our annual profits with employees through a share ownership program, fostering a culture of ownership and success.
Job Overview
We are hiring a Product Development Engineer to transition select steel products (currently sourced from China and impacted by US tariffs) to glass fiber reinforced nylon alternatives. Additionally, you’ll spearhead the development of joining technologies for a new polypropylene (PP) fabric from our Japanese partner, Hagihara Industries, which will have a very high modulus of elasticity, to form our Fast-Tube (FT) product. This role demands a proven innovator who can deliver creative solutions to complex materials and manufacturing challenges, contributing to our ongoing patent portfolio.
This hands-on position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively on cutting-edge designs, prototypes, and testing in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment. Candidates without a demonstrated track record of innovation need not apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop glass fiber reinforced nylon components as alternatives to steel products, ensuring performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness while addressing tariff constraints.
  • Experience in injection mold design.
  • Innovate polymer joining methods for the PP fabric to create an improved Fast-Tube with a very high modulus of elasticity.
  • Create detailed 3D models, simulations, and prototypes using SolidWorks, supporting patent applications for new technologies.
  • Conduct materials testing, failure analysis, and iterative improvements to optimize product designs.
  • Collaborate with suppliers (e.g., Hagihara Industries) and internal teams to integrate new materials into production processes.
  • Develop creative, patentable solutions to engineering challenges, enhancing material properties and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Contribute to documentation and intellectual property processes for new product patents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of innovation in product development, with a portfolio showcasing novel solutions, preferably in composites, plastics, or fabrics for construction or manufacturing.
  • Fluency in SolidWorks is required; experience with simulation tools (e.g., FEA) is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of materials science, including polymers like nylon and polypropylene, and reinforcement techniques (e.g., glass fiber).
  • Experience with manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, extrusion, pultrusion, fabric joining) is an asset.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, creativity, and a demonstrated ability to innovate under constraints.
  • Eligible to work in Canada; local candidates preferred for our Delta, BC location.
  • Candidates without a proven history of innovation should not apply.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience and innovation.
  • 10% profit-sharing through employee share ownership, aligning your success with ours.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunities to contribute to patented innovations in a publicly traded company.
  • A collaborative, innovation-focused work environment with flexible hours.
  • Support for professional growth and global project involvement, including US and international market expansions.

If you’re a proven innovator with a passion for materials science and sustainable engineering, apply today. Submit your resume, cover letter, and a portfolio showcasing your SolidWorks projects and patented or innovative solutions via Indeed.
Fab-Form Industries Ltd. is an equal opportunity employer. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
