Description
Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the Allen Park, MI office. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from Allen Park, MI. Design, develop, and release Body Exterior components and systems for Ford Performance, utilizing CAD, CAE, and visualization tools to develop, communicate, and validate designs. Manage Quality, Cost, Weight, Function and Timing (QCWFT) to support program and engineering GPDS milestones using Ford corporate tools and processes. Collaborate with Purchasing, Finance, and Quality departments to source commodities, utilizing tools such as SWT and Ariba. Lead program delivery through various milestones. Coordinate with FSS (Full Service Suppliers) and other internal and external resources to deliver subject programs. Assure conformance to the Ford Performance DNA and all applicable Ford and regulatory requirements. Develop innovative solutions for performance vehicles, including design, CAE analysis, and testing. Support issue resolution and design change management during the prototype build and launch builds using AIMS and Jira. Interface and maintain collaborative relationship with Core Body Exterior Engineering Organization to develop robust design rules and requirements. Support current production and quality efforts utilizing 6 Sigma discipline, and problem-solving processes, including 8D. Support cost optimization efforts while ensuring quality is not compromised. Domestic and International Travel required up to 20%. Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering and 7 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. 7 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Utilizing advanced 3D design software suites (Catia V5, 3DX, Teamcenter, and visualization tools) to develop concepts, 3D models and drawings to deliver complex Molded Plastic and Sheet Metal commodities. 2. Executing failure avoidance processes utilizing FMA and DFMEA. 3. Implementing 6 Sigma discipline and problem-solving processes, including 8D. 4. Leading resolution of design issues during product launch. 5. Physical and analytical design validation testing and prove outs using CAE, component and vehicle testing, DOE, ANSYS, and Simcenter for iterative design solutions. 6. Using WERS, FEDE, or Catia 3DX/V5 to deliver bill of materials and accurate release data. 7. Designing complex plastic and sheet metal parts, leveraging systems engineering, molding (injection molding, compression molding and blow molding) and sheet metal stamping (Steel and Aluminum).
