Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas, located in Point Comfort, Texas (jobsite), is looking for a full-time Product Development Engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and 1 year related work experience. Job duties include using NMR, FTIR, TEM, and rheometry to conduct material characterization, analyzing the impact of molecular architecture, surfactant chemistry and additive selection on self-assembly behavior and material performance, determining the influence of environmental variables on the rheological and physical behavior of materials to ensure robustness under varying conditions, performing multi-step organic synthesis of functional surfactants and amphiphilic compounds followed by purification via recrystallization, chromatography, and distillation, engineering supramolecular viscosifiers and additives that enhanced proppant carrying capacity over traditional polymer-based fluids, performing computational modeling to validate and interpret molecular morphologies and predict phase behavior of supramolecular systems, and conducting scale-up trials to validate new formulations and process enhancements.
