Description
Lead core engineering development, supplier interface, and hardware/system validation of our next generation of heat pumps and holistic thermal management systems in support of Ford's electrification initiatives. Lead Ford internal and external design reviews and resolution of thermal management efficiency issues related to advanced next generation heat pump system development. Author and release vehicle-level heat pump requirements, functional safety, and other technical design documents where analysis plays a central role. Working knowledge of control strategy development. Benchmark competitive thermal systems and components, to define functional targets, system requirements, and engineering specifications. Coordinate system level bench and vehicle testing to validate performance to requirements. Develop initial advanced system project costs/ED&T expectations for budgetary planning purposes. Lead part procurement in support of advanced system technology development projects. Ensure engineering documentation is coordinated & managed in accordance with technology development milestones. Ensure delivery of system cost, affordable investment, and weight targets for expanded usage of heat pump technologies into xEV's Assist in the development of foundation documents such as DFMEA, boundary diagram, etc. Support quote process for new technologies and manage technical interface with suppliers. Manage effective communication to supplier(s) and application team engineers Provide coaching and mentoring to others, ability to work independently. Established and active employee resource groups Bachelor's degree in engineering 5+ years of experience with automotive thermal systems development and component design 2+ years of experience with automotive heat pump technology Master's in engineering with specialty in refrigerant cycle, heat transfer, thermodynamics & fluid mechanics preferred 5+ years of experience in automotive thermal systems development and thermal component design including at least one full product lifecycle from concept through production for xEVs Understand/ have deep knowledge of thermal systems/attribute & components for electrified vehicles (Heat Pumps; Battery /Electronics Cooling; Energy Recovery & Thermal Load Reduction; Control Systems) Hands-on experience with Heat Pump thermal systems and components Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaboratively work with and influence diverse groups, both internally and externally Knowledge of Ford engineering processes and systems (i.e. GQRS, GTDS). 2+ years of experience with automotive new technology development and implementation
