Description
Support combustion engine testing activities from an instrumentation perspective, with focus on measurement devices and systems associated with data collection. Work with various types of data acquisition systems and software as well as the associated I/O interfaces and communication platforms. Interface with Engineering and Operational communities to understand testing requirements, review data, provide technical support, and relay information pertaining to the instrumentation departments fleet of equipment. Assist team with managing spare parts inventories and equipment tracking Perform routine and specialized calibrations of test cell instrumentation and emissions equipment according to established procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain detailed calibration records and ensure traceability of calibration standards. Established and active employee resource groups Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods. High School Diploma. 3+ Years of experience in instrumentation, metrology, electronics, or calibration of engine testing sensors and equipment. Must have a good understanding of electronics, pneumatics, humidity, temperature, and mechanics, and can work with various pieces of related calibration and diagnostic equipment. Experience with data acquisition systems specifically in the engine testing environment. Experience and knowledge on basic hand tools and their related functions. Must be able to build and diagnose custom cable and wiring assemblies, with competencies in soldering, and terminal crimping techniques. Ability to effectively assess priority and manage time accordingly. Can successfully work in a team or individual environment. Experience with safely handling and understanding of various species of precision compressed gas cylinders. Must possess a strong commitment to quality and safety. Experience and knowledge of computer programs such as excel, word, power point, teams, etc. Must have a high attention to detail and be passionate about delivering data that is rich in quality. Must have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Associates degree or Technical Certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automotive Technology, or a closely related field. 5+ years of experience in instrumentation support for combustion engine testing with specific focus on devices and systems that measure exhaust constituents including Particulate Matter, and Gasses. Strong understanding of modern internal combustion engines and emissions formation. Experience and knowledge of specialized gaseous and particulate measurement devices and systems, along with their related operating principles such as Fourier Transform Infrared, Photo Acoustics, Light Absorption, Reflectance, Scatter, Flame Ionization Detection, etc. Extensive experience with calibration equipment such as Pressure Calibrators, Signal Generators, Humidity Generators and Sensors, Flow Meters, Optical Lenses, Digital Volt Meters, Temperature Meters and Generators etc. Proficiency with various data acquisition systems and test cell infrastructures, such as I/O signal paths, and communication networks such as CAN, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, Digital I/O etc. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting. Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn new systems quickly. Ability to read, interpret, and leverage complex electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Familiarity with regulatory emissions testing cycles, procedures and certification testing requirements.
