The Product Engineer, Cylinders will lead new product development projects (not driven by specific customers), working closely with the Product Management Team, Design Engineers, and Quality Department. Responsible for the management of key product design and development. Activities include product development and design, product training, market research, product and cost documentation. You will make an impact in this role by: Develop assembly and detail drawings, conceptual designs, bills of materials and perform respective hydraulic stress and kinematics analysis. Participate in the development of product catalogs and promotional literature. Work with Lab personnel on product performance and verification tests, conduct tests if needed and analyze test results. Work with vendors to ensure the most economical manufacturing processes and tooling. Assist Materials Department in the selection of vendors. Development of Procedures and Work Instructions as necessary. Prepare and present product presentations, reports, and plans. Key Skills and Attributes Travel – Minimal customer visits and trade show activity. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and product manuals. Participate in the development of product catalogs and promotional literature. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis. Ability to use database software, design software, development software, Project Management software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software. Analytical: Collect and research data. Use intuition and experience to complement data. Design: Generate creative solutions. Uses feedback to modify designs. Apply design principles. Project Management: Develop project plans. Coordinate projects. Communicate changes and progress. Technical Skills: Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English. Oral communication: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Written communication: Writes clearly and informatively. Fluid power specialist certification preferred. 2-3 years’ experience in related industry.
