We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Product Engineer - Motors within our Engineering team to help support our Automotive business. As a Product Engineer - Motors, you will provide Engineering leadership in the design, application and validation of systems to meet or exceed customer specific requirements.

Responsibilities

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING AS A PRODUCT ENGINEER - MOTORS

  • Work with the China Motor Engineering Team to develop motor product solutions to meet customer needs by creative use of core part designs and technologies.
  • Lead the various engineering efforts to design, prototype and validate product design solutions in support of customer and internal core team timing requirements.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers on technical issues, and lead efforts to ensure understanding of their needs and resulting delivery of commitments from LPA.
  • Active participation on program core teams with proactive presentation of defined engineering deliverables defined in the APD portion of the C2P process.
  • Apply suitable engineering tools for the design analysis of assigned projects.
  • Establish and maintain adequate records of technical information, process methods/standards, design and program details, and records to support/procure reliable patent actions.
  • Ensure products are reviewed for best practice from a Design for assembly (DFA) and Design for Ergonomics (DFE) perspective to ensure design delivery to product cost targets.
  • Ensure all needed compliance and audit deliverables are met.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL NEED

  • University level Bachelor of Engineering degree or validated equivalent
  • Preferred 3 years of experience in an automotive product design role
  • Related experience Bill of Material creation and part design execution
  • Team coaching, presentation skills, problem solving skills
  • Engineering calculations and analysis
  • Knowledge of Automotive APQP terms
