A vacancy has arisen in the Aerostructures product line (Plain & Rolling bearings) is preparing for a strong and ambitious development. To support this rapid growth, Aerostructures Product Engineering department is reinventing its structure while strengthening the basics. In this context, we are looking to add a product engineer to our team
Key Responsibilities and Activities
- Performing product design activities for self-lubricating bearing solutions, in respect of AS9100 requirements by:
- Reviewing Customer Drawings & Specifications and evaluating engineering proposals
- Defining initial product design in collaboration with CAD engineering team
- Ensuring full justification, including ability to perform risk assessment (DFMEA) and product performance analysis through calculation
- Ensuring completion of design review in collaboration with Manufacturing Unit and CAD team
- When needed, supporting product qualification, for SKF and customer needs
- Supporting Business Development, Sales & Application Engineering in business opportunity handling or any customer request
- Capturing and ensuring development of product knowledge, design rules and calculation tools, to increase Aerospace Product Engineering team capabilities for all our products – with focus on self-lubricating families
- Sustaining the self-lubricating product portfolio and technology, including maintenance of and development of the technical specifications of the technology
- Supporting Application Engineering in field return analyses and lessons learnt
- Supporting Manufacturing Unit in problem solving linked to product design
Skills, Experience, and key attributes
- Strong team working interpersonal skills
- Proactive and dynamic, self-motivated to take ownership and drive activities - working as part of the worldwide Aerospace PE team and autonomously as required.
- A strong capacity for analysis, judgement and problem solving, a person who is methodical through understanding, capturing and concisely documenting knowledge gained
- Promoter of developing / improving the tools/ways of working within the team.
- Keen to learn and develop yourself
- A strong engineering background: degree qualified in Engineering (Mechanical or similar), with 3 to 5 years’ experience at a suitable level, ideally in the Aerospace and/or bearing industry.
