Job Description Are you ready to put in the next gear of moving IKEA and making us better together? We are looking for a Product Engineering Manager for the Storage Platform team! In IKEA Range, our business is about developing products, it is at the center of all that we do, our daily job. We are looking for you, who are familiar with working with the IKEA range, passionate about home furnishing and the business we are in and interested in solving real needs in people’s homes. The storage platform team develops new solutions according to the DNS methodology and serves and supports the entire storge business community at IKEA of Sweden. The platform team are responsible for the storage platform portfolio; they ensure that the projects are executed according to agreed deliverables and in close cooperation with all areas connected to furniture development. The platform team drives standardization and secures that range areas maximize the use of common shared solutions and that the platform architecture is followed and obtained according to IKEA standard. As a Product Engineering Manager, you will report to the Engineering Manager in RA Bedroom storage furniture and together be responsible for leading and developing the function including recruitment, development, performance management, retention and succession plans for co-workers in a team of approx15 co-workers. As a Product Engineering Manager you will be responsible for both business and people. Together with Engineering Manager you will define the business scope, to set the strategy and be part of creating a great performance culture in the team where it’s both challenging, fun and motivating to work. You are guided by IKEA values, and you have a senior track record of value-based leadership as you lead by example and act as role model, coach and motivate your coworkers in your daily behaviors. You are comfortable leading your team in change and constant transformation. Staying close to your team, assign tasks and responsibilities and closely follow through, whilst creating a culture of developing business and people together. Job Description As a Product Engineering Manager you will: Lead the storage platform project portfolio from idea generation, planning, prioritization, execution and implementation from DNS into DNP projects Lead the platform team, cross-topics, and secure excellence in operations. Lead competences development and succession plans where you are responsible for Product development engineers, FEA engineers, Design engineers, Life cycle engineers and Platform Packaging engineer Lead the development and deployment of common Product Engineering guidelines, principles, and tools to ensure democratic design Secure and optimize planning and resource allocation Drive engineering related topics like materials, technical design and packaging, as well as to contribute to Range Area strategies and business plan Lead, support and secure that FEA simulation and Robust design are fully integrated in the storage business across all storage range areas. Be part of and drive transformation connected to innovation and future storage concepts, as well to explore and find new ways of working connected to storage platform development. Facilitate and secure that all DNS milestones and that Engineering readiness (ERM) are applied and obtained according to standard Take part in steering groups and represent both the platform and Range area in strategic business forums both internally and externally. Qualifications You are a senior IKEA leader, and you have proven experience in IKEA’s product development and in business development, and you understand the full IKEA value chain and how to create preconditions for an efficient development that will reach our targets. You are experienced in collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder expectations to achieve shared goals. You explore different perspectives, welcome innovation and dare to challenge when needed. You are used to prioritizing and simplifying for your teams and organization, for best use of time and resources. You ideally have experience from product development connected to storage and/or the storage industry or categories. Leadership comes naturally to you, and you have a proven track record of leading other people efficiently. You are always guided by the IKEA key values you have the ability to lead through communication and creating strong and trustful networks and relationships in collaborative processes. You know how to motivate people and make them perform and deliver towards set goals and on time. You have excellent communication and networking skills and are motivated by continuously improving your ways of working. You have the interest and ability to coach team members during the product development journey. It is important that you enjoy working with both people and business.
