Description
This position will play a key supporting role in the growth and improved profitability of Coherent Corp Datacenter & Communications BU. This position would involve significant external (customers, suppliers, contract manufacturers, industry experts) and internal (R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal) interactions. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Support Management of P&L and Financial Performance Support revenue and gross margin for the business Monitor sales and backlogs Review financial and shipping results and monitor monthly taking action as required Initiate, drive and monitor costs reduction activities Support business case preparations of R&D investments and CapEx investments. Support 5 Year Planning process with forward looking input and plans to achieve number one market share and industry profits Support Design Wins and Ongoing Business/Market Share Work with sales channels/distributors and product marketing worldwide to bring in identified design-in opportunities into the BU Support strong business/technical relationships at customers Sales Support Review customer requirements and work with Sales/marketing/R&D/Ops teams on winning proposals – specs & pricing Support gathering customer product requirements Monitor the competitive landscape and performance/announcements of our key competitors Product Life Cycle Management Work with Product Development teams to ensure new products are executing on schedule and on budget with improvements in cycle time Support business case creation for new development projects. Monitor progress of R&D projects and metrics Operations Support Assist with forecasting and tracking material planning. Drive on-going cost-reduction activities Support creation of business case’s for capital expansion Marketing Support Assist in defining and driving product strategy Monitor competitive landscape Develop salesware and support marketing by preparing product launch collateral Lead creation of datasheets Education & Experience BA or BS in Engineering required. MBA or MS/PhD in Engineering preferred Understanding of high speed optical transceivers and related technology preferred Familiarity with hyper scale and switch/ASIC vendor ecosystems. The ideal candidate demonstrates potential for ownership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership, and driving product vision / roadmap Skills Knowledge and understanding of financial instruments: P&L, balance sheet, income statement preferred Ability to easily and successfully work with employees and customers in a multi-cultural, global team environment Ability to handle multiple priorities and complex issues involving external and internal priorities Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency Working Conditions Working conditions typical of a climate controlled and professional office environment.
