Introduction
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Product Manager to make an impact at a growing business with an inspiring mission.
The Modern Milkman is a purpose-driven business that delivers fresh ways to reduce waste for customers nationwide. Our goal is to reset our throwaway society, and, to date, we’ve saved 81,402,464 plastic bottles from polluting the planet. Not bad for a business that started as four friends from Lancashire delivering milk from a beat-up truck! To do this, we offer our customers the ability to make more planet-positive shopping habits one small, simple and very convenient step at a time.
The Product Manager will join an existing digital product management team, reporting into the Product Director. They will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the product strategy and roadmap, and ensuring the wider business is aligned to this. They will work closely with stakeholders, customers, engineers and data analysts to uncover new opportunities to create value, and then lead the design and execution process to deliver it. At the highest level, this role will provide two key capabilities…
Product strategy & roadmap development which is the cornerstone of this role - in that we must understand where this product ultimately needs to go, and how we can get there. A great product strategy is one that continuously evolves based on an endless stream of insights (from market research to customer feedback to internal data, goals and worldviews). The strategy must be understood and rallied around by all key stakeholders, and used to define the next step the product needs to take (i.e. the roadmap).
Product delivery is the execution of the product strategy. A collaborative exercise across engineering and business SMEs, the product team must ensure we understand the “why” and the “what” when discovering and delivering a new feature or initiative, and importantly ensure all participants stay aligned to that goal.
This role will be focused primarily on our customer journey and would be perfect for someone that wants to be involved in every aspect of a new feature from planning and scoping, right through to designing, building and sharing the story behind the work as it launches. You’ll be wearing many hats and get involved in all aspects of building a product and company!
Responsibilities:
Ensuring we have a holistic, coherent and believed product strategy that drives our roadmap and ultimately ensures we are spending time on the right thingsSomeone with a complete understanding of the product; its strengths, weaknesses and limitations, and the work required to improve itThe knowledge and experience to be able to effectively turn a goal or concept into tangible activities and development plans that ultimately achieve the desired objective
The ability to ensure the wider business is aligned to the current priorities and roadmap and especially that they understand the why behind them
Continuous capturing and analyses of feedback of all types and all sources, and the ability to act on these in the right wayWhilst ensuring key decisions are based on a wider strategy, also having the ability to react and flex to immediate business needs where applicable, applying the necessary pragmatism
Driving a culture of continuous improvement, not just in the things we build, but also in the way we identify and build them
Requirements:
Previous experience in product management or a related role. Ideally in an E-commerce start-up environment
Able to develop effective product strategies based on holistic insightsAble to align the business to a product roadmap that also aligns to wider business objectivesAble to conduct effective product discoveries to collaboratively identify problems, opportunities and solutions that can be delivered wellAble to support the entire product & software development lifecycle including backlog management and delivery management supportAlways honest and transparent about where we are and the context around itAlways independent and objective - driven by data and objectives, not opinionPassionate and infectious with their belief and drive in the productCollaborative at heart - facilitating effective ways of ensuring the right viewpoints and inputs are collected and consideredA lean mindset with a bias towards action - no heavy requirements gathering phases or business cases, instead a quick and iterative approach to solving problemsDriven and motivated by product and business outcomes, not project outputs and reportsIf you feel like you might not meet all the requirements, but you are excited about this opportunity, please apply anyway.
