Description

Who is MYP? MYP Corporation, part of System C Australia, exists to positively change people’s lives by giving them back time, control and choice.

We build software for providers across the NDIS and In-Home Aged Care sectors, helping them navigate some genuinely complicated operating environments so they can spend more time doing what they’re actually here to do: helping people.

We’re an outcomes-focused organisation that values long-term relationships with our subscribers and stakeholders. We’re also in an interesting stage of growth, scaling our existing products, moving further upmarket and bringing our Most Loved Product vision to life.

That means putting users, their Jobs to be Done and the problems actually worth solving at the centre of how we make product decisions.

Your new role

We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager to join our Product Team in a full-time hybrid role based in South Brisbane, reporting to the Director of Product ANZ.

This is a hands-on IC role working closely with our Senior Product Slashie - Bec, to balance customer needs, commercial priorities and technical realities to find pragmatic ways of delivering value.

You’ll work across the full product lifecycle, from understanding and defining problems through to delivery, measuring what happened afterwards and making the call on whether we pivot, pursue or stop doing something altogether.

You’ll work closely with our R&D teams to sequence initiatives, identify risks early and find alternative paths to value when the perfect solution isn’t realistic right now. Because, annoyingly, time, money and engineering capacity continue to exist.

You’ll spend plenty of time understanding our customers by coordinating with our research team, digging into workflows, pain points and Jobs to be Done across Disability and In-Home Aged Care.

You’ll also mentor two Product Managers across discovery, prioritisation, commercial thinking and delivery practice. It’s very much leading by doing, while also learning from the deep subject matter expertise they already have across the MYP platform.

Our ideal candidate To be considered for this role, you’ll need a few runs on the board with demonstrated Product Management experience and unrestricted rights to live and work in Australia.

You probably won’t tick every box below, and that’s fine. We’re more interested in whether you know how to think, learn and make good product decisions.

  • Ideally, you’ll bring: Experience working autonomously as a Product Manager, identifying customer value and business risks, exploring solutions and driving work towards outcomes rather than simply shipping what you’re told.
  • Strong commercial thinking and an understanding of when to explore new opportunities versus exploiting and improving what already works.
  • The ability to zoom between macro and micro, keeping sight of strategic goals while still caring whether the thing we ship actually works well for the person using it.
  • A fairly relentless interest in our user's problems, plus enough empathy and curiosity to keep digging when the first answer doesn’t quite stack up.
  • Experience collaborating across Product, Engineering and customer-facing teams to align people around direction, trade-offs and risk.
  • The ability to juggle competing priorities without making everyone else guess what is going on.
  • A knack for taking complicated problems, pulling them apart and helping people agree on what problem we’re actually trying to solve.
  • Comfort making decisions with imperfect information, learning from what happens and adjusting as you go.
  • Natural curiosity about why existing features, processes and workflows work the way they do, particularly when the answer appears to be “because that’s how we’ve always done it”.
  • The confidence to ask why, challenge assumptions and back your thinking with evidence, data and logic.

This role is probably not for you if

  • You can’t see yourself becoming interested in the Community sector, particularly NDIS and Aged Care. Helping people who help people to help people turns out to be surprisingly complicated.
  • You need every problem neatly defined before you can start working on it. Government-funded programs change. Regulations change. Priorities change. Occasionally everything changes at once.
  • You haven’t yet spent at least a few years independently running product work. We need someone with strong fundamentals who can get up to speed and start applying them relatively quickly.
  • You’d rather be handed a roadmap than help work out what should be on it.
  • Regular exposure to Dad jokes would constitute an unacceptable workplace hazard. The Director of Product has developed something of a reputation.
