About the role
As Product Manager for the Networks and Connectivity portfolio, you’ll be accountable for product planning, new product delivery, and lifecycle management! Acting as the ‘CEO’ of these products, your role is pivotal to Vocus’ future growth, leveraging your extensive commercial and technical expertise to drive business outcomes.
You will collaborate closely with Enterprise, Government, and Wholesale sales and marketing teams to understand customer challenges and identify growth opportunities for Networks and Connectivity solutions. With a focus on the “bigger picture” within the portfolio, you will develop and execute a product strategy aimed at achieving growth while ensuring a brilliant customer experience.
This is permanent full-time role and can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide or Hobart. Join us in this critical role to shape the future of Vocus and deliver exceptional value to our customers!

What you’ll be doing day-to-day

  • Planning and Delivery of New Product Capabilities: Oversee the planning and delivery of new product capabilities, ensuring the product roadmap is regularly refreshed and embedded across key stakeholders. Deliver new products within budget and schedule, maintaining agreed quality standards and ensuring on-time and budget delivery of new initiatives.
  • New Product Design and Customer Experience: Develop customer and market-led products that are easy to consume and digitally enabled, delivering a great customer experience. Focus on revenue, market share, and customer feedback to guide product design and enhancements, ensuring products meet customer needs and drive satisfaction.
  • Financial Targets and Lifecycle Management: Meet portfolio revenue and earnings targets for assigned products, implementing decisive course corrections when necessary to ensure solid financials. Maximize portfolio value through robust lifecycle management, including product and pricing refreshes and exits, while continuously measuring key product metrics such as revenue, margin, churn, and price erosion.
  • Develop and Maintain Product Plans: Create and maintain product plans with a deep understanding of market opportunities, competitive offerings, technology trends, and growth opportunities. Maintain regular contact with customers and sales teams to ensure a market-led approach to product development and portfolio management. Design and deliver new product offerings that align with market opportunities and customer needs, ensuring they are effectively sellable by the sales team.
  • Optimize Product Performance: Define, track, and analyze key product metrics to enhance product performance and customer experience. Continuously optimize products within the portfolio to ensure simplicity and maximum yield and execute timely exits as required. Work closely with key stakeholders across the business to communicate the product vision, roadmap, and value proposition.
  • Support Sales and Strategic Initiatives: Provide support to sales teams for major bids and RFPs, ensuring they have the necessary product knowledge and resources. Collaborate with stakeholders to align product strategies with business objectives and drive growth.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THIS ROLE:

  • Extensive Product Management Experience: 5 years of experience in product management roles within telecommunications, IT, or technology, with a strong focus on new product development. An exceptionally strong background in technical domains such as Business Access types (Fibre, NBN, Satellite), Networking Solutions (MPLS based IPVPN, Internet, Ethernet), Managed Network Services (Router, Switch, SD-WAN), and Cyber Security services and Security Consulting.
  • A security clearance to level NV-1 is considered desirable.
  • Project Management and Agile Expertise: A disciplined project management mindset for all initiatives, with the ability to hold others accountable for delivery. Significant experience working in an agile/digital environment, delivering iterative results and driving progress even in the absence of complete details. Proven ability to work in ambiguous environments, driving clarity and alignment among key stakeholders.
  • Customer Insights and Communication: Proven ability to extract customer insights, develop product plans and roadmaps, and drive the delivery of new product initiatives. Clear communicator at all levels of the organization, including senior management audiences. Ability to distil complex customer or technical problems into simple plans, concepts, options, and recommendations.
  • Financial Acumen and Interpersonal Skills: Strong financial and commercial skills, including sound knowledge of forecasting, P&L management, and corporate finance concepts. Exceptionally strong interpersonal engagement skills and service orientation, being naturally hands-on with the ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a small team. Proven ability to deal with complex technology, customer, or commercial challenges and identify simple options to move the situation forward.
  • Inspirational Leader: You have a personal interest and passion for telecommunications and technology, inspiring others with a vision of what’s possible. A high level of initiative, a strong desire to own outcomes, and a problem-solving mindset.
