We are hiring for a Product Owner based in Sydney Purpose: The Product Owner is responsible for maximising the value delivered by the product team by defining and prioritizing the product backlog, translating business needs into actionable requirements, and facilitating effective delivery practices. This role acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and the development team, ensuring clarity of vision, alignment with business objectives, and smooth execution of product initiatives. This role reports to the IT Director of Delivery & Business Enablement and is expected to work at least 3 days per week in office (Surry Hills or Warriewood) and 2 days from home. Responsibilities include: Backlog Management Own, prioritise, and maintain the product backlog, ensuring it reflects business value and stakeholder priorities. Aligning with IT Business Partners and Project Management teams is crucial. Translate business requirements and user needs into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria. Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement Gather, analyse, and document business requirements through workshops, interviews, and data analysis. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, pain points, and desired outcomes. Facilitate requirements refinement sessions and ensure shared understanding across business and technical teams. Agile Delivery Leadership Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily stand-ups to ensure team alignment and progress. Remove impediments and coordinate with other teams or departments to resolve blockers. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging feedback and iterative enhancements. Quarterly Planning & Cross-Team Collaboration Organise and facilitate quarterly planning sessions, together with other product owners, to align team objectives with organisational goals. Work closely with other Product Owners to identify, manage, and resolve dependencies between teams for the successful delivery of work. Ensure visibility and coordination of cross-team initiatives, risks, and resource needs. Reporting & Transparency Provide regular updates on product progress, risks, issues, and dependencies to leadership and stakeholders. Ensure all reporting requirements are met for SteerCo, Project Portfolio Review (PPR) sessions. Maintain dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time visibility of product and project health. Quality & Value Assurance Ensure delivered solutions meet business needs and quality standards. Validate deliverables against acceptance criteria and facilitate user acceptance testing. Champion best practices in requirements management, agile delivery, and stakeholder communication. Continuous Improvement Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the team and across the product domain. Regularly review processes, tools, and outcomes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness. Encourage experimentation, learning, and the adoption of new practices that enhance team performance and product value. Who are you? Demonstrated experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in an agile environment, driving product outcomes from discovery to delivery. Hands-on expertise with agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and proficiency with tools such as Jira and Confluence for backlog management and documentation. Strong capability in requirements elicitation, process mapping, and translating business needs into clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria. Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to assess complex issues, identify root causes, and propose pragmatic solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to influence, negotiate, and manage diverse stakeholders across business and technology. Deep customer focus with the ability to prioritize work based on business value, user impact, and alignment to strategic objectives. Ability to facilitate workshops/ceremonies, drive consensus, and motivate cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
