Description

Lumexa Imaging is one of the country’s largest providers of outpatient medical imaging. With over 5,000 team members and more than 185 outpatient imaging centers across 13 states, our team conducts more than 4 million outpatient studies annually. We are the partner of choice for health systems and radiologists, delivering best-in-class clinical excellence, operations, and state-of-the-art technology across our platform.
Position Summary
The Product Owner for Clinical Applications plays a critical role in overseeing the lifecycle and performance of third-party vendor clinical software systems—including PACS, RIS, dictation, HL7 interfaces, and other imaging-critical applications. Rather than driving internal software development, this role focuses on aligning vendor product capabilities with organizational goals, clinical workflows, and technology roadmaps.
The Product Owner collaborates with clinical users, IT teams, vendors, and leadership to ensure that vendor solutions are effectively selected, implemented, maintained, and continuously improved to support high-quality radiology and imaging services.
Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Application Portfolio Oversight

  • Define and maintain the roadmap for assigned vendor clinical applications, aligned with organizational priorities and vendor roadmaps.
  • Assess product fit, risks, and interdependencies across the clinical application landscape.
  • Prioritize enhancement requests, upgrades, integrations, and vendor support activities based on business value and workflow impact.

Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison between clinical stakeholders, IT, and vendors for application lifecycle planning, issue resolution, and release management.
  • Lead vendor evaluations, demos, upgrade planning, and SOW negotiations in partnership with procurement and technical teams.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure accountability to SLAs and support terms.

Implementation & Change Management

  • Collaborate with project managers and solution architects on implementation and upgrade projects.
  • Translate user needs into actionable requirements and manage the intake of change requests and enhancement requests.
  • Guide testing, validation, and go-live activities for vendor software releases.

Performance & Optimization

  • Analyze product utilization and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Recommend configuration changes, workflow improvements, or vendor-driven enhancements to better support clinical users.
  • Ensure application compliance with relevant standards (HIPAA, BAA, SOC 2, etc.).

Key Competencies

  • Clinical Workflow Awareness (Radiology/Imaging)
  • Vendor Product Lifecycle Management
  • Strategic Prioritization & Roadmap
  • Cross-functional Communication
  • Contract & SOW Review Participation
  • Agile/Hybrid Project Delivery Mindset

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Build trust and credibility with executives through clear expectations and timely follow-through.
  • Communicates effectively across business, clinical, technical, and vendor audiences.
  • Facilitates resolution of competing priorities and technical or operational challenges.
  • Demonstrates proactive ownership, accountability, and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manages workload and deadlines independently, while collaborating cross-functionally.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related Clinical Imaging field preferred

Experience

  • 3–5+ years of experience supporting or managing vendor clinical applications (e.g., PACS, RIS, voice dictation, HL7 engines).
  • Proven experience engaging vendors for upgrades, roadmaps, support escalation, and system optimization.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT regulations, system integration methods, and radiology workflows.
  • Experience in an imaging center, radiology group, or hospital environment strongly preferred.
