Fortescue is on a mission to fully decarbonise our iron ore operations, and artificial intelligence is at the core of making this bold transformation a reality. We’re building a future where electric haul trucks, green energy systems, and real-time optimisation redefine what’s possible in mining — and we’re looking for a Product Owner who can make that future happen.
As the Product Owner – AI for Decarbonisation, you’ll lead the design and development of pioneering AI-powered tools that enable the shift to net-zero mining. You’ll spearhead the product strategy, development roadmap, and stakeholder engagement for two of our most critical digital systems: an intelligent Fleet Management Platform and a next-generation Green Fleet Dispatch Optimiser. These tools will directly influence how we plan, operate, and continuously optimise our fully electrified mining fleets.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years of experience in either AI & analytics product development OR mine operations technical disciplines (i.e. mining, blending, supply chain operations) with technical project delivery experience
  • Experience in cross-functional teams and ability to communicate effectively across multiple business areas (e.g., operations, technology)
  • Background that comprises solid business understanding and high-level understanding of product delivery
  • Modern product development toolkit including experience in agile development and OKR methodologies, lean testing and user research, and product roadmap development & vision creation
  • Experience in the use of AI solutions & systems to drive improvements to efficiency and productivity in mining or heavy industrial application.
Responsibilities
  • Develop vision for AI systems and solutions and a value-based roadmap, lead quarterly planning sessions
  • Develop business cases for new AI systems and solutions, including value opportunity sizing, delivery model and stakeholder alignment
  • Conduct data analysis and user research to define product requirements and features, including clear documentation to enable development
  • Build, groom and prioritise the product backlog, developing user stories and acceptance criteria to feed into each sprint and accepting sprint results
  • Define, implement, and track performance metrics once solutions enter production including adoption and impact
  • In collaboration with technical leadership, define the set of necessary competencies and skills required in the delivery team
  • Drive user adoption and engagement, running demos and showcases to the target users and the broader business.
